Heritage Red Wattle Fresh Bone-In Ham Roast weighing 3-4 pounds.
Ingredients
-
For the Ham:
- 1 Heritage Red Wattle Fresh Bone-In Ham Roast, skinless (3-4 pounds)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
-
For the Glaze:
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 2 tablespoons bourbon (optional)
Instructions
Preparing the Ham:
-
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
-
Prepare the Ham: Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern using a sharp knife. This helps the glaze to penetrate and flavor the meat.
-
Make the Marinade: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, and ground black pepper until well combined.
-
Marinate the Ham: Rub the marinade all over the ham, making sure to get it into the scored cuts. Let the ham marinate for at least 30 minutes, preferably overnight in the refrigerator for maximum flavor.
Cooking the Ham:
-
Roast the Ham: Place the ham on a rack in a roasting pan. Add about 1 cup of water to the bottom of the pan to keep the ham moist. Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning.
-
Roasting Time: Roast the ham in the preheated oven. For a bone-in ham, cook for about 20 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).
Glazing the Ham:
-
Prepare the Glaze: While the ham is roasting, combine the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, orange juice, and bourbon (if using) in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved and the glaze is smooth.
-
Apply the Glaze: About 20 minutes before the ham is done, remove the foil and brush the glaze generously over the ham. Return the ham to the oven, uncovered, and continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and the glaze is caramelized.
Serving the Ham:
-
Rest the Ham: Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
-
Carve and Serve: Carve the ham into slices and serve warm. Enjoy your Heritage Red Wattle Fresh Bone-In Ham Roast with your favorite sides!
Tips:
- Leftovers: Use any leftovers for sandwiches, soups, or salads.
- Sides Suggestions: Pair with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
- Storage: Store any leftover ham in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Enjoy your delicious and flavorful ham roast!
